Mental health is just as important...

If you felt ill would you tell someone? Had a pain or a strange ache? We so often regard our mental health differently to our physical health, but thankfully the conversation is finally changing. It’s a subject close to my heart and I’m really passionate about mental health becoming more and more ‘visible’, more normal as a topic of discussion, it needs to become as normal as talking about the weather. “How’s your mind today?” “A little cloudy? A little sunny?” Too often we cover up, even to ourselves, how we are feeling inside and the more we can start these conversations- with our children, our friends, our parents- the more it will be accepted that we can do something about it!! We can change a cloudy outlook.

When I was diagnosed with depression I really thought it couldn’t be right. I wasn’t crying or sad. I was a bit lost, confused and unable to make decisions... I had known depressed people, my mum for starters - and I wasn’t like them! But slowly I learned more about what depression, anxiety and stress are. How they affect our neurology, our stories, our patterns, our mindset, and more importantly, how we can change them.

Anti-depressants are fine - they can cover it up nicely - but they don’t do the work. If you don’t weed the garden the weeds grow back. Coaching, NLP, hypnotherapy, healing, kinesiology, Ayurveda, Yoga, meditation, mindfulness, massage, reflexology, laughing with friends, crying with family...these are just some of the things that make the change.
